What to expect from a Naturopathic Consultation.

Many people are unsure what to expect from a naturopathic consultation, and how this may differ from seeing a GP.

A consultation with a naturopath will often be a lot longer than one you may have experienced with a GP, with the initial consultation often taking over an hour. This is because a thorough assessment of your health status needs to be made. Subsequent sessions are likely to be for a shorter period, depending on what you are being treated for.

Your Naturopath will ask you about your past and current health history, in an attempt to identify the root cause of your health issues. They will ask about your diet and lifestyle, sleep habits, family health and anything else that may help direct the treatment plan.

Physical checks such as blood pressure, height and weight measurements, tongue analysis and iridology may be performed.

In order to further investigate likely causes, your naturopath may recommend various tests be taken. Some of these can be done during a consultation, whilst others may require attendance at a pathology clinic for samples of blood, urine or saliva to be analysed.

A range of treatment options are available to naturopaths, including nutritional and herbal medicine, homeopathy and flower essences.

Like your consultation with a GP, all the personal information you provide to your naturopath is held in the strictest confidence.

Inital consultations are 60-90 minutes.

Your consult fee includes your first follow-up for free
